Playstation Network DOWN 3/4/2012

Get your online gaming fix today, because the PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance Sunday, March 4th.
PlayStation Corporate Communications and Social Media Director Patrick Seybold described the outage as a “significant PSN maintenance period” that’ll last from “just after noon Pacific” until about 2 a.m. Monday, March 5th. During the outage, you won’t be able to sign in, use PSN-enabled websites, play games online or access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and account management.
If you’re looking for something to do during the outage there is always outside watch NBA or go to the movies….

actually u could sign in into netflix, im watching it rite now basically wat i did to get it to work start netflix and while is loading push the ps3 button on ur controller and go to playstation network and click on sign in,it wont sign in but it well netflix work some how, try a few times and it will work but it has to be done while netflix is loading

Pretty sad hearing all the whining and crying on here. PSN is a network just like any other network. When you install security updates, you have to shut the network down to install them or they don’t work properly.
Then they have to test the updates to make sure they work properly. The more bugs they have, the longer the network will be down. As you may have noticed there was an update to the Playstation included.
The PSN is a reliable network, they just like any other server have to keep it up to date in order for it to work properly. It’s not like they do this every day now is it? I’m a computer tech myself in school going for my Bachelor’s Degree in software development.
It’s routine for any server to do maintenance and updates. I was in the middle of playing Dark Souls when this update kicked me offline, but i’m not here to whine, I was just checking to make sure that this was something scheduled and not something wrong with my PS3.
Anyway if you want my PSN name is NelsonAK feel free to add or message me on there because this is my first time ever on this forum and I don’t really get into forums to be honest. However, quit hating on SONY and realize that you wouldn’t be playing the games you are if it wasn’t for them.
You can still play most games offline honestly, you just won’t have the online interaction. There’s always something to do to kill time while they work on this update. Patience and kindness are very good virtues to have. Take care.

geezus, first off i was an avid xbox player for many years only about 4 months ago i made the switch. xbox almost never was down because they try to institute patches individually when they are most convenient with a much larger software division than sony. sony has the hardware section covered better. with xbox you pay a little money each month to MAINTAIN the constant updates offered. Sony offers less patches but much larger fixes at once to avoid the updates almost daily it can seem on xbox. i switched to ps3 because of 3d tech and i own 2 3d tvs ( 47″ vizio and PStation Tv 26″) which my xbox cannot make use of while i was paying to play as well as it doesnt have the web browser like even a wii does. but to get to the point some people play a lot of games, some dont who gives a shit what you do or I just keep my NETWORK up so i can whoop all these whiny QQ’n girly boi’s HAHA

I am still not getting an xbox 3shtty that systems is sh*t. So what is a maintenance issue. Big deal. My old xbox didn’t last that long because it froze. The 2 xbox 360′s had the same fate. They are crap systems. The play stations are a better product. All of my playstations from 1 to 3 work flawless. Sonys don’t freeze up never have and they never will. Sony will take care of this because the japanese people are smart.

We have 3 ps3′s in one house my hubby has one and both my boys have there own. They were all online this morning playing codmw3 and it worked just fine.. we are on est so were 3 hours behind pst and we werent affected let us sign on all day… Now my hubby and one son are playing at this moment and my other son wanted to play again after going outside to play basketball and it wont let him sign in at all .. hes so dissapointed so if your on there now dont sign out or u want get back on till sometime tomorrow !

Look, it’s not a matter of whining. It’s not a matter of selfishness. It’s a matter of good practices and and considering all of your audiences. If your job is to cater a service, like gaming, and people clearly play mostly on the weekend (Sunday in America), find a better day/time to make a time-consuming update. It’s one thing to not be able to please everyone, but it’s still another to ignore an entire continent/country and a huge contributor to your success. I know PSN is a free service, but don’t market it with the integrity you clearly don’t exhibit. Some people really only have the weekends (as it has been said). Bottom line, is there a better time to make an update like this? Probably. Please consider all of us next time you decide to make an enormous decision that impacts all of us.

Yeah I just found out that the network was down, but so what, its maintenance. PSN is free, of course there will be a few set backs. And guess what whiners, xbox has updates too, but you do pay for it. The only bad thing about playing on a free network is you have to play with irresponsible people who think they own the world and one little day off is the end of it. Everyone has a right to complain, and with free speech can unfortunately do it in a disrespectful way with their four word profanity dictionary and lack of true intelligence. Many of you complain about a company that brought you a blueray system with more GB of memory than their tiny heads can endure, and for a good price; Let alone the fact that the network play is free. Yes Microsoft is a very respectable company and offer many things with the xbox, but i am and always will be a Sony fan. So maybe all you playstation posers that whine because its free and has maintenance should switch over because it is quite embarrassing to play on the same network as you. you probably are correct but i use psn and i like the quality except that 1st ps3 released i had and it broke within 3 years i could only play ps home but now i have a ps3 that im proud to own plus only ppl who like to pay for xbox live own xbox 360 aka suckers free is better thn paying to play 1 simple game online i do pay for network card but when i play saints row: the third i pay nada nothing
